The city has run its own Electric Department since 1894, serving 2,300+ customers, along with a 2.5 million gallon per day water treatment plant and full wastewater service. New residents set up electric, water, sewer, and trash service, plus any required deposits, through the city's utility office.

Facilities include Fairground Park with tennis courts, a pool, and a playground, McCord's Park, and an 18 hole disc golf course. Youth sports leagues, cheer, and seasonal community events run throughout the year.
